Hardware Accelerator Application

The Rev: Ithaca Startup Works Summer Hardware Accelerator brings the rapid iteration prototyping of the software world to hardware. With the help of experienced instructors and an equipped prototyping lab, teams will take their hardware idea from napkin to prototype. The application is running on a rolling deadline. TOM/Cornell Hackathon + Makeathon
Location: New Lab, Brooklyn Navy Yard
Time: March 9 (Deadline to sigh up)
For 3 days in April (April 21-23)we are bringing together engineers, developers, creators, and innovators to build solutions for people with disabilities, and it’s open to EVERYONE.  Students, staff, faculty, parents, friends, alumni. Work with a need knower in empathetic design to create a solution customized to their unique challenge. Deadline to sign up is March 9. If you have a challenge you would like to submit please do so on the website, if you want to mentor, volunteer, or otherwise help please sign up on the website. NewLab has a full fabrication lab for rapid prototyping. Teams will be reimbursed up to $500 for the cost of materials they may purchase in advance.

Networking@Rev: Pitch Madness

Rev has got a bad case of March Madness! Join us for March’s Networking@Rev, featuring a fast-paced elevator pitch competition between Rev Member Companies. Members will pitch at a feverish pace, and a panel of judges will select the winners. Be there to cheer them on and vote for the Audience Favorite. Before the event, be sure to pick your Rev Member Company fantasy team and share on Twitter. Check out our Members Page here  and name your three MVPs with the hashtag #RevDreamTeam. We’ll share the Dream Team picks on the night of the event and give away a few t-shirts to some of our fantasy players. And remember, no wagering please. Networking begins at 6pm, Pitch Competition begins at 645pm. This event is free, but RSVP to save your seat.

2017 New York State Business Plan Competition Application
Location: Online
Time: March 10
Applications for ideas or ventures must fall into one of the five categories below: 1) Information Technology/Software; 2) Advanced Technology Products; 3) Services; 4) Social Entrepreneurship/Non-Profit; 5) Clean Technology. The top 12 teams from each of the five categories above will advance from the regional semi-final competition to the statewide final competition. That competition is held on Friday, April 28 in Albany, NY. Teams will compete head-to-head against regional winners form the nine other major regions on New York. Meet & Repeat: A Speed Networking Event
Location: 291 Statler Hall

How can you maximize networking opportunities for your entrepreneurial journey in 5,400 seconds? Come to the Meet & Repeat hosted by the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship! At Meet & Repeat, students practice their pitching skills by presenting an elevator pitch about themselves or a business idea while building and expanding their networks.  This is also a great opportunity to expand your network by meeting over fifteen industry leaders and entrepreneurs from across the globe. Cornell Venture Challenge Application

Applications for Cornell Venture Challenge (CVC) are open! The premier Cornell startup competition awards $25k for the first prize winner (another $25k will be offered by Cornell Technology Licensing office for CTL affiliated startups). This is purely prize money and no equity is required in exchange.  Applications are due March 14th.  The event will be held on Thursday, April 27th, at Statler Amphitheater. Join us for a detailed breakdown of how to do effective Customer Discovery Interview as we workshop with co-owner of Lakewood Vineyards Mark Rondinaro to workshop effective customer discovery interviews. Please join us to be part of an ongoing discussion led by Entrepreneur-In-Residence Tony Frontera with entrepreneurs in and around Schuyler County where we’ll be highlighting local entrepreneurs and the tactics and strategies they’ve successfully used to go from 1-person doing everything, to adding employees and levering addition resources to dramatically increase revenues, productivity, and better work-life balance. The Southern Tier Startup Alliance and Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development are working with area entrepreneurs to start a new series of group workshops that will each month focus on a different company to learn about what they’re doing, and how the community can help.

Commercialization Fellowship Application

Commercialization Fellows is an opportunity for engineering PhD students to take a deep dive into the commercialization process and potential real-world applications of university inventions. This program pairs Engineering PhDs and Johnson School MBAs. The peer-to-peer knowledge sharing mirrors what both groups will encounter in industry: the critical interface of research and development with business acumen. Generation Startup Film Screening & Game Night
Location: eHub Collegetown

The documentary captures the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who put everything on the line to build startups in Detroit. Shot over 17 months, it’s an honest, in-the-trenches look at what it takes to launch a startup. Directed by Academy Award winner Cynthia Wade and award-winning filmmaker Cheryl Miller Houser, the film celebrates risk-taking, urban revitalization, and diversity while delivering a vital call-to-action – with entrepreneurship at a record low, the country’s economic future is at stake. Immediately following the film is a networking event (7-9pm) with food, at 8pm starts GAME NIGHT!
The Next Big Thing: Board Game for Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital starts at 8PM. A board game for people who are interested in being startup superheroes & changing the world. Players take on the role founders to create the next big thing, bootstrapping using their initial cash savings and skills to create an MVP, gain initial traction, and then go on to raise multiple rounds of capital, increasing the value of their company, while also diluting their ownership.  Players experience many of the ups and downs of the entrepreneurial journey.
